Procrastination

I don’t know when it started, or why it happens, but procrastination among honor students are spreading like wildfire.
I woke up this morning in a good mood. 10 hours of sleep is the usual for a Wednesday morning. I felt great; I wasn’t the slightest bit tired, my house was nice and quiet, and even better all my homework was done, or so I thought. I went downstairs to eat some frosted flakes. Who doesn’t like frosted flakes? My milk was nice and cold and I even managed to get the last bowl of it. I got ready by 8:15 and had 15 minutes to horse around. I looked outside to see that the weather was not too hot too wear light clothing, but not too cold to wear a jacket. All this was, hopefully, an exposition for a great day. Leaving my room I decided to grab my guitar, it’ll be fun to play at lunch and at the morning.
My bus ride was weirdly crowded. This was a hassle for bringing my guitar, but nevertheless I made it to school. Once I arrived I went straight into the cafeteria. I eat 2 breakfasts because I get really really hungry by the time lunch comes around. I decided to get a muffin and some yogurt. Most of the time the muffins aren’t cooked all the way, but my was perfect. Again the day couldn’t have gone any better. The bell rang and I nonchalantly walked into 1st period. Immediately I was bombarded with the issue of “Did you do the resume?” Dangit! I completely forgot about it. Out of all the classes, I forgot to do the homework in my favorite. I don’t know why either. I made sure I did my math, history, and biology, but what about English, especially something as fun as a resume. Immediately I rushed to my seat and did my best effort of trying to finish what should be a half hours work into 3 minutes. It came out horrible and I was sort of ashamed of myself. I guess I have to use a no hassle pass and do it tonight, but then I have that 2-3 page essay in history about library references, and the endless amount of math problems Ms.Bosworth assigns, and that doesn’t even consider the packet I don’t have a clue of how to do in biology… When did the assignments start to pile on?
The rest of the period went great, in fact my whole schedule did. In 2nd period I got the highest test score, in 3rd we observed organisms, and in 4th we learned lots about world religions. I can’t remember another day thus far where I’ve been so productive. My homework list was somewhat manageable: 2 essays, math and a packet. Afterschool I had a student council meeting and then concessions. Like the rest of the day those went great, except for the fact that I forgot my backpack at school darn it. I got home around 9 pm. Assignment after assignment and now its 12:20 and I’m writing this creative essay. This essay wouldn’t be about procrastination if I wasn’t doing it. I spent about an hour on facebook and now I’m paying for it.

  1. Procrastination is okay sometimes when you are loving life and living life. And what can beat a great muffin-- cooked all the way through.

  2. I really enjoyed reading about your day. You were really descriptive, it felt as if you were taking me with you throughout it. I also feel the same, I procrastinate all the time. Great essay, good job John ! (:
